Memorial Tribute for Rowdy Duhon

Rowdy was 16 years and 10 months old. He grew up alongside my kids and was, in every way that mattered, their brother. It’s hard to remember our family without remembering him as part of it.

In his younger years, Rowdy loved the water, pools and beaches alike. He loved going for car rides, he loved pizza, and he loved other dogs. For many years, his girlfriend was a large stuffed penguin, which was just one of the many things that made him Rowdy.

There truly wasn’t a mean bone in his body. He was gentle and sweet and loved everyone. He was with us through so many different seasons of our lives, quietly growing older while my kids grew up beside him.

Sixteen years and ten months is a long life, but somehow it still wasn’t nearly long enough. He wasn’t just our dog. He was part of our family, part of my children’s childhood, and part of our home for almost seventeen years. There will never be another Rowdy, and we will miss him for the rest of our lives.
