Tonight, the world lost one of its brightest lights. We bid farewell to Champagne for Lulu (AKA Baby Girl AKA Lulubelle Dickens). We were able to spend some time with her at the end, giving her kisses and letting her know how much we loved being her daddies over the past eleven+ years, and how much joy she brought into our lives. We’ll remember the excitement she had when a BarkBox arrived, spinning in circles for treats, barking at squirrels, hopping around before she received her last treat of the day (a salmon stick) and the goodnight kisses that followed, sleeping peacefully in laps (one of her favorite things to do), alerting us to deliveries — ours and for the neighbors! — inspecting packages (and not being pleased they were taking away attention from her — which she let us know by bringing a toy to play with her instead), and so much more. We’re so fortunate that she had a wonderful last Christmas and helped us start off the new year well, and that her last Thursday was a lovely, normal day before illness struck. Lulu, you were the best little girl in the world, and we love you forever. 💕
