“Don’t get a dog. You’ll spend too much on food and their care. All of your clothes will be covered with hair. Your schedule will revolve around 4 little paws. Your bed will now seem just a little too small. You’ll have to stay home as much as you can. You’ll have to say no to more of your friends. You’ll start to notice simple pleasures in life. You’ll realize the companionship feels kinda nice. Not only the dog, but the relationship will grow, Into something that you never thought you could know. A friend who neither judges nor notices flaws, A friend who says the right thing, while saying nothing at all. She’s there when you laugh, she’s there when you cry, no matter what you do, she’s there by your side. But there will come a day where the good girl must go, To continue her journey on rainbow road. With a lump in your throat and pain in your heart every toy, every hair seems to tear you apart. In time you will heal and will have learned from his love And when you meet the right one, you won’t need to be shoved A familiar love, though different than before Still once again you’ll say “I couldn’t love anything more” When my advice you ignore and you choose a new friend, At least promise to love her until her very end. This part is important—so don’t overlook: For you she’s a chapter. But you are her book.”
