Tiger

In April of 2012, we adopted Tiger as a 2-week old kitten after being found in a yard with his litter. For the next 12 plus years, he joined us in welcoming home our three kids, our move from our starter house into our home, he joined us on multiple vacations, and countless other memories. When our first son was born, my connection with Tiger grew with my job keeping him well fed, rewarded with treats and lots of play time. With all that, our bond grew unexpectedly to an unconditional love that only pet parents can appreciate. Tiger was my boy. For nearly a decade, he was the first to greet me at the door when I came home from work. Literally at my legs, always helping me recoup from a bad day or bad commute. At night Tiger had his spot literally at my right hip. Just about every night, he’d curl up right under my right hand so I could rub his ears. The bond was so evident…without any interaction as soon as I approach him, he’d start purring regardless. Tiger got me through some of the toughest years, giving me a sense of purpose and reason to come home to him. The connection only grew following his diagnosis with advanced kidney disease, and the 1.5 years we fought together with rounds of medications but I enjoyed every minute of caring for him. Tiger crossed the rainbow bridge on December 22nd and 2:22pm. There are two presents for him that will remain unopened this year under the Christmas tree, and a deep hole our hearts. We will miss you and are thankful for the love and fun memories. When the time comes, I am sure you will be the first at my feet at the gates of heaven.
