Leo Brioche McQueen

Leo Brioche McQueen was an immensely loving and wildly smart American Shorthair cat, rescued from PAWS in South Philadelphia on January 2nd, 2023. Despite having skin and allergy conditions which limited the types of food he could consume, his middle name comes from the first thing he tried to steal off of the counter. He is survived by his adoring parents, Shannon and Danny. At the shelter, Leo jumped into Shannon’s arms to be held, signaling his intent on returning home with her. In his morning routine, he would lovingly ask for his third breakfast portion – mostly comprised of daily medicine – and give rubs and kisses, en route to his bowl. Leo was passionate about interfering in workouts, sitting on laptops, and asking to be involved in any and all activities that involved people. He was adored by Shannon’s students, colleagues, and Danny’s patients, many of whom were lucky to meet him virtually. Leo was loved by neighbors, friends, and especially his godparents, Katherine and Jon, who showered Leo with affection and care. Leo had a regular play routine and evening rituals that involved rubs under his chin, head “boops”, and laying on both Shannon and Danny’s chests with loud, affirmative purrs. Leo opted for life’s unsophisticated pleasures – he often preferred the cheapest toys and the views of city passersby via his favorite window. He adored passing the time in his personal, sunny oasis: a humble Philadelphia backyard. Leo expanded the hearts of his owners in ways that few can imagine. Leo witnessed Shannon and Danny’s living room wedding, made their house a home, and taught them how much love and care they had in their hearts. Leo was ever generous, ever gracious, even in his final moments when he was unwell. His collar was engraved with his name and a message: “Call My Family.” Shannon and Danny will look for Leo forever – and he will always be family.

Maui

Maui – our Maus, Mamaws, Mauzerz, Mawii Mawii, Meowmiii, Mausibebi, Thank you so much for everything! You have been there for us all the way, our emotional support cat. We can’t believe that our time was cut short. Those were the best 4 years together with you. Thankyou for being mommy’s Pokemon (followed mommy everywhere she went) and daddy’s noisy spoiled baby girl. You never left our side through late night work OTs, to greeting us – galloping everytime we came home, to mommy’s late night pumping schedules, to demanding for food and attention, to bothering daddy’s workouts, to meowing like crazy whenever we left you, to your sister Hiraya’s meltdowns, to sleeping on our legs, to all the toughest times both mommy and daddy had – you NEVER made us feel lonely. We will do our best to be strong. We know you did your very best. We wish we could spoil you more with some extra more years together. We dont know how we’ll go through this without you but we know you made us strong enough to handle anything that goes our way. We will take it day by day. It will never be easy because you were honestly the best kitty anyone could ever have! Thank you so much, our first baby. We love you baby! Until we meet again. Mommy, daddy and your sister Hiraya will love you forever! Run free!
