Rest in peace, my dear Benny
I will never forget finding you on the streets of Louisiana when some bad people just abandoned you as a young puppy. You were covered in fleas and looked like you hadn’t had any food for days. I had to give you three baths just to get the fleas out, and then you ate the food I got you so fast it all came back up.
We drove home to New Jersey together to start your new life. All those hours on the road and you just slept like you knew you were safe. You quickly turned into a mama’s boy and wouldn’t leave her side. Nothing else in the world mattered to you but her. You loved to swim and enjoyed the pool at home more than anybody. You loved to play with your baby lamb chops toy, but only as long as the squeakers didn’t make any noise. You quickly became addicted to mommy’s homemade puppy treats and were smart enough to fake needing to go to the bathroom so you could go outside and come back in and get a treat. You were also the best cuddler, at least until you started snoring so loudly. When Honey moved in you finally found a dog you like to play with.
Benny, you were the best mama’s boy I’ve ever known, and I will always cherish the times we had together. Thank you for your loyalty, your energy, and most of all your love.
You’ll always be in my heart, Beignet!
Love,
Daddy
