Gray – 07/29/2024

Life lessons from Gray. Wherever you go and whatever you do go fiercely and with your whole heart. Don’t be afraid to be weird and be yourself. Let nothing stand in the way of you doing what you want to do. Limitations are something you make for yourself. When given the chance, spend the entire day on the couch. Steal your brother’s toys at all opportunities. Protect your family as they’re precious. Gray was so strong, and he never let anything stop him. Gray survived 7, (yes 7!) episodes of bloat in his lifetime. He survived a poor prognosis in puppyhood with a life expectancy of 6 months old. He lived with multiple limb and spinal deformities, dwarfism, chronic dry eye, and chronic pain from end stage arthritis. Gray earned a Canine Good Citizen title, and spent many years as a certified therapy dog. He had to test in for these certifications, and the tests were not modified. We went to hospitals and reading programs together. He touched so many people’s lives online and in real life. My family and all of you have done all that we possibly could for him from the beginning. He has wanted for nothing and defied all odds. Gray has done the impossible and lived a full life into old age. He had a normal Great Dane lifespan, 8 incredible years. We are so lucky. Gray passed peacefully today in the arms of the people he loved most. The greatest Dane there ever was or will be. We will love him forever. The lessons that he has taught us will never be forgotten. He was never just a dog to us. He was my family.

You brought so much joy and unconditional love into our family, becoming a cherished member and a constant source of comfort. You were such a quiet soul, always looking for your next “snack”.
