Nyx
Today, we gather to remember and celebrate Nyx, a cherished companion of our family whose spirit will forever hold a special place in our hearts. Though Nyx’s physical presence is no longer with us, the love and joy he brought into our lives continue to resonate within each of us. Nyx entered our lives in 2015, and immediately won over each member of our family with his deep, dark fur reminiscent of a moonless night and eyes that sparkled like stars. He was undeniably handsome, but more importantly, he possessed a heart overflowing with love for us all. Nyx always loved going out. Whether it was for walks, the dog park, or any other place. People always complimented him on what a well behaved and beautiful boy he was. He had a special fondness for food – always hopeful, always nearby whenever a meal was shared, especially during our family ritual of offering him the first idli with a touch of ghee. What truly distinguished Nyx was his unwavering presence and loyalty. He was our protector, our steadfast and resolute sentinel alerting us to any potential “threats” outside – whether it was a delivery person or a curious deer. And his excitement upon our return from anywhere made us feel special every time we came home. He was especially gentle with our children. Patiently enduring their playful tugs and hugs, Nyx embodied the epitome of a family dog, offering companionship and comfort to all. The void left by Nyx’s passing is profound. The silence in our home is deafening. It is a stark reminder of his absence. I find myself missing the simple yet cherished moments – his quiet presence at mealtime, his companionship as I worked, and the reassuring feeling of him standing watch, a sentry of our home. In reflecting on Nyx’s life, I am filled with gratitude for the lessons he taught us. Through his unconditional love, Nyx showed us to appreciate life’s simple joys, to find happiness in each day, and to embrace the present moment with an open heart. Though we mourn Nyx’s passing with great and unimaginable sadness, his spirit lives on within us. May we carry forward the legacy of his love, embodying the lessons he taught us, and finding solace in the memories of the joy and light he brought into our lives. Nyx, you will always be in a special place in my heart; a warm and cozy place where I will keep you forever. You will be deeply missed and cherished forever. Thank you for blessing us with your presence and your love. Farewell my sweet boy, until we meet again.
