Penny picked me out of the pack at a time in my life when I was not ready for the responsibility of another dog. She was just another puppy among many puppies, but she came over, sat at my feet, leaned against my legs and looked at me with an expression that very clearly told me I had no choice in this matter. Penny fit herself right into the zoo at our house and we have been inseparable ever since. However many hundreds (thousands?!) of walks, however many hours spent on her grooming, however many times we had book club on the couch on weekend mornings, it was not enough.
Penny picked out her own name from the Big Bang Theory when she had been with us for a few days. Penny survived multiple surgeries for various ailments. Penny somehow miraculously cured herself of a lung tumor when she was 8 years old….it was there…and then it wasn’t. She even put up with her rude overwhelming blue heeler little sister, with much more grace than any human ever possibly could. Penny truly was an angel on earth and she will be greatly missed by all of us in her human family. Don’t worry, Penny, I’ll be waiting for you when you get back….it isn’t goodbye, just see ya later. love, Momma
