Samantha – 07/17/2024

The Shuffelbottom family is celebrating the 20-year life of our incredible Burmese/Siamese cat Samantha (Sam). Sam was born in May 2004 on Soi 22, Bangkok, Thailand. Shortly after her birth, Sam, also affectionately referred to as “The Atz,” captured the hearts of her new human family who was also residing in Thailand at the time. Sam was immediately adored and adopted. After a few years of travel and relocation to numerous residences abroad and in the U.S., Sam and her family eventually settled into their new permanent home in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Sam made her career in patrolling her home’s perimeter in search of various vermin, visiting neighbors on a regular basis to say hello while sharing a treat or two, endless quality time, and tireless play and new adventures with her family. No matter where she was or what she was doing, Sam always arrived at that special time and at her special dinner spot for her favorite meals of steamed Thai mackerel fish and seafood Temptations. After entering retirement, Sam enjoyed her days spreading out in the sun, on her bed cuddled up under her favorite 76ers blanket; and spending the evenings with her family watching movies, playing video games, snuggling, and a steady conversation of firm meows or a yowl for more attention. What Sam loved best was all the humans whom she personally met. And she was very quick to make that fact known by a surprise jump on their lap or a gentle rub against their hand. Despite being born the runt of the litter and without a tail, Sam was able to excel in life and immigrate to the United States to achieve the American feline dream. Just a few of Sams many accomplishments include: Helping to raise two wonderful boys into fine young men, bringing even closer together an already close family with unconditional love and affection, and the rare talent of spawning a smile to our faces after a long hard day while also providing light to our lives during our darkest and down moments. Samantha will truly be missed, and our sadness will weigh heavily in her absence, but the fact that she remains with us always in our hearts will carry us along while cementing the fact that we are all better people for having had her as a part of our lives. Godspeed Sammy and rest easy as one day we will be together again on the other side.
