Shane, 1/19/2011 – 7/19/2022

Shane was my knight in shining armor – my hero. After losing my previous dog, a Rottweiler-mix named Molly, I became deeply depressed. Three months later, I happened to see Shane’s picture on a local shelter’s website. It said he had been adopted and returned through no fault of his own – TWICE. Knowing that his life could be in jeopardy at this shelter, I went to meet him. He looked so depressed in his kennel. He wasn’t jumping or barking like the others. He just laid up against the kennel gate. They brought him out to meet me. He sat down in front of me and offered his paw. I immediately told them that I wanted to adopt him. I promised Shane that I’d give him a chance if he’d give me a chance. We’ve been attached at the hip ever since. My daughter told a family friend it was the first she’d seen me smile in over 3 months. We were together for 10-1/2 years. After having to say good-bye to him 3 days ago in order to end his pain, my heart is broken into a million pieces. He was such a good boy for so long. I love him deeply and will miss him forever.
