On Sunday, May 6, 2018, we lost our precious and beloved Cocoa unexpectedly to what we understand to have been aggressive canine visceral hemangiosarcoma (http://www.caninecancer.com/hemangiosarcoma/). While she appeared to us as energetic and healthy as ever until two days before showing signs of discomfort, Cocoa’s little heart arrested during what we thought would be a routine splenectomy, where they discovered pervasive internal tumors. She was seven and a half years old.
Cocoa was survived by her twin sister Coffee, her mama Darlene A. Dreyer, grandparents “Omi” and “Grandfather”@Char Dreyer, Uncle Stephan Dreyer, Aunt Dorothy Dreyer, cousins Kirsten Alexandra Dreyer and Zachary Dreyer, fur cousins Kascha and Kovu, rescuer Christie Bell, and many fur-ever friends.
In lieu of condolences, please do something extra nice for your loved ones in honor of Cocoa’s brave and loving spirit. Spend more time with them and less time working. Throw the ball seven more times. Snuggle up on the couch together. Pull them along for a long walk. Go on a surprise adventure. Play “roly-poly” in the grass with them. Rescue them if they need rescuing. Dance with them. Wake them up at 6 am at the top of your lungs with the song in your heart. You can tell us about it, if you wish. Just live it.
