Gus Cross

Gus Cross, a grey American Shorthair cat, came into our lives when Peter brought him home on September 22, 2012. Gus lived a wonderful life filled with love, treats, food, and plenty of cuddles until he crossed on June 25, 2025. He was 14.5 years old. Gus is survived by his parents, Peter and Emily Cross, and his dog, Bernese Mountain Dog sister Bailey Cross. Gus Cross was born around December 13, 2010 in the small town of Acton, Massachusetts. He was adopted by Peter and Emily and brought home on September 22, 2012. Gus was a loving cat who enjoyed playing with Tootsie Roll lollipop wrappers, his red parrot toy, twist ties, hair ties, and wrestling with and biting his Father’s hand. But most of all, he loved to cuddle with his mom on her lap. Gus was loved by everyone, but he had a very special bond with his mother, Emily, and would always want her to scratch his chubby cheeks or pick him up and walk around with him on her shoulder. Gus also loved to be in open windows, on the top rung of his cat tree, lie out on the covered porch, or anywhere that was warm, typically near the fireplace or on top of our many blankets. Gus was truly a one-of-a-kind cat. He was so proper in how he would stand or sit, always with his white paws together and his tail wrapped perfectly around his body. He was very calculated about his movements and would never jump up on something without knowing he would be safe doing so (except for the Christmas tree incident in 2012). Gus will be forever remembered for the love he gave us during his life. He may have sometimes looked like he was grumpy, but deep down, he was a sweet boy who would never harm anything (except a few mice). Gus will be deeply missed by everyone, but especially his parents, who love him with all their hearts. We will miss you every day, Gus, our firstborn. We look forward to the day when we will see you again in the next life, this time to be with you forever.
