For 13 years, Winston was our best friend—ours in the truest sense, but also somehow everyone else’s. He had a kind of gravitas that didn’t quite make sense, yet he carried it effortlessly. People remembered him more than they remembered us, and honestly, we never blamed them. He has hometown friends to NYC bars – folks are always curious about the life of the adventure pug. He lived his life with an indestructible spirit. He backpacked through 2 peaks of the ADK in his young years to being carried in a backpack around state parks. This was a dog who survived eating too many things he should not have at our detest – from a cactus to the wonders of New York City street meat has to offer. He powered through all of it with that same stubborn charm that made him such a legend. But cancer doesn’t care how extraordinary you are, and his lymphoma diagnosis devastated us. Still, he gave us the gift of an extra month and a half with one of the coolest, weirdest, most beloved pug to ever exist and we treasured every minute. He was family. He was joy. He was ours. And he always will be.
